Acupuncture for Hay Fever

Hay Fever otherwise known as Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis occurs in the spring when the nasal muscoa become hypersensitive to pollen from grasses, trees and flowers. Symptoms can be exacerbated by diet, stress and weather conditions.

Its cousin, Allergic Rhinitis is not linked to any particular season and is triggered by allergens such as dust, pollen, pollution, perfumes, sprays, mites or animal dander.

Symptoms include sudden attacks of sneezing, red watery eyes, itchy eyes, stuffy nose, coughing or even wheezing. TCM recognises that Hay Fever is triggered by external factors so it aims to strengthen the bodies defences to external factors so it can fight off the allergen more effectively.

Successful treatment of Hay Fever with Acupuncture has long term benefits without the side effects of prescription drugs. In our experience a course of treatment (10 sessions) will be required but significant improvement should start to occur by the second session.
