Acupuncture and IVF

Most IVF clinics now offer acupuncture as an adjunct. And research shows that having acupuncture whilst undergoing IVF increases pregnancy rates by 10%. This is a significant increase when you consider that IVF success rates are heart-breakingly low – for women aged 35-37 it is 27.2%. For women aged 43-44 it drops to 5.1%.

Acupuncture should ideally be used in the run-up to starting IVF treatment and throughout. This is not always possible so at the very least do try and have treatment prior to egg retrieval, and before and after embryo implantation.
